The first orientation session for new Forest Service Volunteers at Mesa Ranger District will be Thursday night, October 21, 7 P.M., at Mesa Ranger District, 7140 E. Ingram Street, Mesa.

Forest To Establish Doug Shippey Volunteer Award
The Doug Shippey Volunteer Achievement Award, honoring the memory of Doug Shippey, a volunteer at Mesa Ranger District for over 25 years, is being established as an annual Tonto National Forest at a ceremony on October 8, 2 P.M., at Mesa Ranger District.

Lower Salt River Cleanup Set for September 25
The 31st Annual Lower Salt River Cleanup is set for National Public Lands Day, September 25 from 8 A.M. to 2 P.M. Volunteers should sign in at the Pebble Beach Recreation site on the Bush Highway going out of Mesa toward Saguaro Lake.

Association of MRD Volunteers Formed
The Association of MRD Volunteers has been formed to help recruit, coordinate, and develop volunteer programs to support the mission of Mesa Ranger District.

MRD Seeks Vounteer Team Leaders
Mesa Ranger District is seeking team leaders to coordinate team activities for the Volunteer Program. The initial teams will include Trail Maintenance, Wilderness Stewards, Canyon or Saguaro Lakes, The "Green" Team, Off-Highway Vehicles (TRAL), and Boy Scouts and Groups.
