Information for Eagle Scout Candidates

For Eagle Scout projects, Mesa Ranger District offers area restoration projects where native plants are transplanted from a nearby area to a damaged area.  The intent is to offer projects that help restore the Forest to its natural state.  Hopefully, the Scout will be able to see the positive results of his work many years later.

The restoration projects currently available are off the Bush Highway, west on Highway 143 (Four Peaks Road).  The ATTACHED MAP shows the locations of projects.  These projects involve relocating plants from areas that are undamaged into damaged areas.

We recommend that you come out to observe a project underway where you can get answers to your questions.  You can see when projects are scheduled by reviewing the Eagle Scout Calendar.

More detailed information:

Once a project has been agreed to and a date has been set, the volunteer coordinator will prepare a Volunteer Agreement which specifies the work to be done, and the date/time of the project.  The agreement will be sent to you by e-mail. You should print the agreement out, sign it, have your parent/guardian sign it, and leave it at the MRD office.  (We must have an original signature it cannot be faxed in).  You must allow time for the agreement to be signed by the District Ranger before you can do your project, so don't put this off until the last minute!  We recommend that you submit your signed Volunteer Agreement at least a week before your scheduled project.

If you have any Boy Scout paper work that you need to have signed off for your project, bring that to the MRD office and leave it for signature.  Once an MRD representative has signed your paperwork, you will be called by the front desk when it is ready for pick up.
